3rd Grade Teacher
We are seeking a knowledgeable, mission-aligned educator to join our Lower School faculty for the 2026–2027 academic year. Our Kindergarten through Grade 6 program is grounded in Hillsdale's classical curriculum and emphasizes strong character formation, academic excellence, and a love of beauty and learning.
Job Description: This is a full-time, exempt position with an August 1–July 31 work schedule (185 days). Standard work hours are 7:30 AM–4:00 PM on days designated by the school calendar. Each Lower School teacher is responsible for the direct instruction of a single classroom and contributes to the life of the school through collaboration and additional duties as assigned. The successful candidate will be eager to learn and faithfully implement the culture, curriculum, and instructional practices of an American classical school.
Position Narrative: The 3rd Grade Teacher will plan, organize, and implement direct instruction and assessments aligned with the Hillsdale curriculum to guide students to learn, grow, and fulfill their academic potential. Position Duties and Responsibilities:

- Prepare lessons, lesson materials and deliver instruction to facilitate active learning.
- Plan and deliver lessons for a class of 18–26 students using a classical curriculum and pedagogy

- Engage professionally and respectfully with students, families, colleagues, and staff
- Model virtue, prudence, self-discipline, and responsibility in daily interactions
- Develop and implement student interventions, collaborating with specialists as needed
- Integrate technology effectively for teaching, assessment, and classroom management
- Participate in ongoing professional development to strengthen subject knowledge and pedagogical skills
- Support colleagues through collaboration, mentorship, and shared classroom responsibilities
- Contribute to school life through events, clubs, and student activities
- Communicate clearly with families regarding student progress and prepare thorough plans for substitutes

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required, with coursework demonstrating a broad liberal arts education
- Successful prior teaching experience; 2-3 years or more classroom experience (preferred)
- Knowledge of classical education model, Hillsdale Curriculum, and direct instruction

What We Offer:
- Salary Range: $40,000 to $52,000 depending on degree work, experience, and experience with classical education and/or Hillsdale curriculum.
- Insurance Coverage: Individuals contracted for 30 hours per week or more on a regular basis are eligible to receive employee health, dental, vision, and life insurance according to the terms of the insurance policies in which we participate at the time of hire.
- Retirement Benefits: We are a participating employer in Colorado Public Employees’ Retirement Association (“PERA”) and as such will contribute to a Defined Benefit Plan account for you.
- Personal Time Off: All full-time and part-time employees are eligible for paid time off (PTO) of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked up to 48 hours per year (this does not include seasonal stipend positions).
