Science Teacher

Chemistry / Physics Teacher (2026–2027 School Year)
Sacred Heart Academy – Hempstead, New York

Sacred Heart Academy is seeking a highly qualified and passionate educator for a full-time Chemistry / Physics teaching position beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. This role includes instruction in NYS Regents Chemistry and Physics, along with all associated laboratory work.

We are looking for an educator whose teaching is grounded in current science education research and best practices, and who demonstrates a commitment to student-centered, project-based learning that engages and inspires young women in the sciences.

Responsibilities

• Teach NYS Regents Chemistry and Physics courses
• Plan and implement engaging, standards-aligned lessons and laboratory experiences
• Foster a collaborative, inquiry-based classroom environment
• Assess student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback
• Contribute to departmental and school-wide initiatives

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Chemistry and/or Physics Education
• Valid New York State Teaching Certification in Chemistry (7–12) and Physics (7–12)
• High school teaching experience preferred
• Strong background in laboratory instruction and safety
